The brief

A portfolio that gets out of the way of the work.

Neil needed a new website that puts his photography first: big, bold and immediate on any screen, quick to browse across more than 50 projects, and simple for him to keep up to date as new commissions are published.

  1. 01Bespoke WordPress theme
  2. 02Full-screen homepage slideshow
  3. 03Index of 50+ projects
  4. 04Keyboard, swipe and arrow navigation
  5. 05Responsive, lazy-loaded WebP images
  6. 06Instant page loads with prerendering

The build

Fast to browse.
Simple to update.

Useful Digital built a bespoke WordPress theme around full-bleed imagery. Splide powers the homepage and project slideshows, with GSAP adding motion, and every gallery can be browsed with the keyboard, by swiping or with the on-screen arrows. Images are served as WebP at the right size for each screen and only loaded when needed, while speculative prerendering and view transitions make moving between projects feel instant.
